Poem by Harvey Shapiro/Link to Kent Foreman poem

City Ethic
by Harvey Shapiro

In New York
at the end of the day
if you are pleased with yourself
and the human condition
and feel no survivor’s guilt
you have added to the darkness.

And my own re-cant:
In Boston
at the end of the day
if you are pleased with yourself
and the human condition
and you feel no survivor’s guilt
you have added to the darkness.

In America
at the end of the day
if you are pleased with yourself
and the human condition
and you feel no survivor’s guilt
you have added to the darkness.

But the poem “It’s About Time” by Kent Foreman soothes my soul. Follow the link, download the poem, and listen to it again and again and again. Go ahead, do it now.
