More election aftermath

So, I just had a conversation with the lone Republican in my workplace
(the weird guy in billing). He was complaining
that everyone was mad at him because of the election. I asked him to
try to explain to me why on earth he would ever vote for Bush. In
the course of the conversation, he said, and I quote: “Why do all the
terrorists want Kerry to win?” He was completely serious.
He really believes that there is some tape out there of Osama bin Laden
endorsing Kerry. This is an educated, reasonably well-adjusted

This is the problem with democracy. People are so fucking stupid they can be manipulated into believing anything.

  1. Repeat something enough times and even the most intelligent of people starts to believe it. George Orwell has been telling us that for half a century. I’m surprised nobody has capitalized on it so heavily before.

  2. Moral of the election: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

  3. Has the weird guy in billing heard the news yet about the latest bin Laden tape, in which he said that Bush was doing his work for him? Seriously, OBL’s stated goal of wanting to bankrupt the US is distressingly similar to Grover Norquist‘s oft-quoted goal of shrinking the government to the size where they can drown it in the bathtub (that’s a slight paraphrase). The BushCo strategy seems to be this: rack up huge deficits until the US can’t borrow any more money, then privatize Social Security and cut services (because we won’t be able to fund services when all we can do is pay down our debt).

So the *real* winner of this election was… Osama.
