State of the world

In case anyone’s interested, here are the 13 senators who didn’t vote for Bush’s lapdog to be the next Secretary of State:

Akaka (D-HI)
Bayh (D-IN)
Boxer (D-CA)
Byrd (D-WV)
Dayton (D-MN)
Durbin (D-IL)
Harkin (D-IA)
Jeffords (I-VT)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Kerry (D-MA)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Levin (D-MI)
Reed (D-RI)

I’m home this morning, because Boston Public Schools are closed today and tomorrow. This makes no sense. Yesterday, when it snowed an extra 6 inches and everything was a slippery, sludgy mess, schools were open. Today it’s sunny and not snowing (albeit it’s 11 degrees) and schools are closed.

  1. Not even Oregon’s Ron Wyden voted against that woman.

I’m going to go hide in shame now.

  2. It’s amazing, what happened to opposition in your country? How do the dems ever convince anyone that they should be elected if they say the republicans are good? I really hope Howard Dean gets elected leader of the party, maybe he just might change it a bit. Ridiculous.

  3. Yeah, I was kind of surprised about that too…but nor did Barack Obama, or Hillary Clinton, the two Democratic hopes for the future.

  4. I don’t know what happened to opposition in this country. Everyone is clamouring to the middle they keep forgeting what they stand for – except, of course, for the religious right, who should secede and form their own union. I’ll give them Idaho and Wyoming.
