  1. do you know why people wear those aluminum-foil thingies?

congrats to your friend! i was in awe as i was watching people finish, even as late as 5:30 PM…what an amazing feat!

  2. The “aluminum foil-thingies” are given out at the end of the marathon so runners don’t get chilled. They’re thermal. I’m not sure what they’re made of exactly.

  3. Thanks for posting — it’s so fun to get a personal view on an international event.

(A friend of ours got a blanket like that from his mother. He maintained that it was very symbolic of his mother’s nurturing style. His was an emergency blanket — the kind you take camping or keep in the car “just in case.” I have one, but I couldn’t tell you what it’s made of.)

  4. Mylar.

  5. This has nothing to do with this post, but since it’s on top:

Last night I was surfing the web and had clicked over to your “Friends” page. Sweetie was sitting next to me and instead of seeing it as: realsupergirl friends

He saw it as: real super girlfriends

    Just thought you’d enjoy that.

  6. Ha ha! I do enjoy that.

  7. He maintained that it was very symbolic of his mother’s nurturing style

That is really funny, in a sad sort of way. I love it.
