Highlights of the Passover weekend

Getting to see my aunt.
Getting some stories, and photos, for my blog about Dubrow’s cafeteria.
Getting to see my cousin Joe’s latest play, The Syringa Tree (he’s the director), at his new theater.

The seders – I attended one at my aunt’s house, and one at my cousin
Erica’s house – were fairly unmeaningful. But it was nice to
spend the time with my family. We’ll be attending a third seder
this Friday at the rabbi’s house, so I expect to have a more meaningful
seder there.

The highlight of both seders came when James, the 11-year-old son of my
cousin-in-law’s sister, was playing a Passover trivia game with the
group. He is being raised Catholic and Jewish simultaneously, and
mistakenly asked “Who rescued Jesus?” instead of “Who rescued
Moses?” which caused all the adults in the room to roar with
laughter.

Of course, my mood was sullied by the Spurs’ collapse in Game 1 of the
NBA Playoffs. I hope I feel better Wednesday night (Game 2). It’s
amazing how much basketball affects my emotional life.
