On the Republican contenders

ABC and Facebook are sponsoring supposed open discussions between the candidates. It’s not really all that open – after all, the media can’t help but poking their nose in to try and manipulate the outcome – but it’s pretty interesting.

Most of the Republicans are completely out of touch with the rest of the country about health care. People want a drastically revamped health care system because our current system is BROKEN. Huckabee actually gave a pretty brilliant little speech about just how broken it is. Too bad he’s such a nutcase on social issues. Romney leaped in faster than a $10 hooker to suck the Big Pharma dicks after McCain called them out on the way they have jacked up their costs. Of course, all the Republicans are in complete denial about the way their unregulated free market capitalism has created the very problem we call health care.

Oh, and on Iraq – what I saw was a parade of white men lining up to give Bush a lap dance. Fuck that shit. He’s going to go down in history as the worst president ever, and they’re all on record as endorsing his mistakes. Except Ron Paul, who they couldn’t jump on fast enough to even prevent him from finishing a sentence.

  1. Yeah, I saw Romney’s answer on that and instantly knew who was funding his campaign.

  2. YUP.

  3. Thanks for the update!! (Since we don’t watch TV much, I seem to only hear about the debates after the happen.)

(Though–$10 hooker-ouch on the language there. I don’t really have any problem with the insults to the politicians, but it seems a bit dehumanizing to folks working in prostitution…) Anyway, now I am kind of afraid that some of the leading Republicans get how fucked up the health care system is–I was counting on them towing the corporate line and that being part of their downfall. Not that I believe they would actually make any substantial changes once in office…that’s the rub, of course.

If Ron Paul gets enough support, maybe he’ll run as an independent and that would be good for the democrats, so I hope he hangs in there!

  5. I certainly didn’t mean to be dehumanizing to prostitutes…only dehumanizing to Romney.

Well, my father is pretty convinced Huckabee will not really be supported by the traditional Republicans BECAUSE of his more populist economic policies. Romney and Guiliani tow the big business, corporate line. Huckabee would probably be the most divisive candidate the Republicans could put forth, and I anticipate if he gets the nomination, Bloomberg will run as an independent and split the Republican party, perhaps for good, since it will mean they will officially have abandoned the principles of their party – they will have become more evangelical than libertarian, and lost their Reaganesque economic policy.

All of this SHOULD be good news for the Dems, but they could still fuck it up.
