Yes, we are insane

So, last Saturday we decided to drive to New York City. We don’t get to see my parents very often, and we get to see my aunt and uncle even less, and all four were in New York City this past weekend.

But, you know, it was snowing. We left later than we had wanted to on Saturday in order to wait out the worst of the snowfall. But around Vernon, CT, we did watch one vehicle spin around four times right in front of us, before finally crashing into snow and guardrail. We called 911 for him – he was a young kid, and looked a little deer-in-headlights. But he wasn’t alone, so we continued on our way.

We stayed with my cousin Bruce, got treated to dinner and a production of The Seagull, had brunch and took in the Miro exhibit at MoMA the next morning, before heading off. We considered staying over till Monday, but it was actually warm in New York City (which didn’t get even a quarter as much snow as New England did) so we figured the warm front was moving in faster than the weather reports were predicting. And we were fine, all the way to New Haven. Somewhere north of Hartford, however, the roads became slick and slushy and too scary for even Kaphine to drive – and she’s no wuss like me.

So we stayed in Manchester, CT for the night, enjoyed free cable, had some good motel sex, and got free breakfast in the morning.

We were home by 9:30 AM. Our cats thought they were starving. But they were happy to see us.
