Day 38

Andrew Sullivan posted his final blog post, and in it says some interesting things about blogging. I won’t quote from it here, since he essentially recommends not doing so because he thinks it misses the point of blogging, which for him is its constantly evolving process.

It’s an interesting and jarring post, but I’m not sure I buy it. I mean, writing is a kind of permenance, which is both why people do it and why it terrifies people. But the internet more than anywhere is the place where sometimes, things never die, like it or not. It almost seems a little irresponsible to suggest blogging can be constantly evolving. It’s only possible if we do when he suggests, which is not ever take quotes and excerpts from blog posts out of their larger contexts. Which is probably a good idea, but probably against human nature.
