Day 103, 30 day poem challenge day 13

Day 13: choose a poetic form you have yet to master and write poem in it, using some famous reference.

I choose the “cento” which is traditionally a college poem made up entirely of lines from other poems. (Thanks to Langston Hughes, Grace Paley, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Yehuda Amichai, and Emily Dickinson)

How to Survive American Politics

We lament our impotence: that we have failed
We grow accustomed to the Dark
What happens to a dream deferred?
My heart is warm with the friends I make
Without the big noise of beating swords into ploughshares
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
It is the responsibility of the poet to be a woman.
